Teen rushed to hospital after falling off van in Mississauga
Peel Regional Police have arrested the driver of a minivan after a driving stunt on the top floor of the Square One parking garage that left a teenager in hospital with serious head injuries.
The teenager tumbled off the back of the brown Chevy Venture Saturday evening in an apparent case of car surfing.
Peel EMS received a call to the shopping centre shortly before 6:30 p.m.
The teen was transported to Trillium Health Centre, in a “decreased level of consciousness” shortly afterwards.
A shoe and some clothing lay scattered across the parking lot as Peel’s major crimes bureau investigated.
Tire treads suggest the minivan may have been circling in sharp turns when the teenager fell off the back.
The van will likely be seized as part of the investigation, said police, warning of the danger of driving stunts.
“Teenagers have to realize that we’re mortals . . . if something like this happens we can be seriously injured or killed,” said Const. Thomas Ruttan.
